Who is Grant Nash?
Grant Nash was born from a love of McLaren Vale Grenache — and a Siri autocorrect.

Bryn Richards is the man behind Grant Nash. Kiwi-born, English-bred and now a true-blue Aussie, Bryn has clocked up 33 vintages around the world. Stints include California, England, New Zealand, Portugal, Western Australia and, of course, his beloved South Australia. During the 1999 vintage at Tatachilla Winery he was smitten with McLaren Vale’s combination of beaches, great produce, world-class wines and its friendly community, and he returned in 2001 to make it home. Off the clock, it’s drinking wine, cooking with the bounty from the Willunga Farmers Market, beach time, and long rides on the Fleurieu Peninsula’s gravel roads.
Long summer holidays in the south of France — with many pilgrimages to Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Gigondas in the Southern Rhône, and across to Priorat in Spain — sparked a love affair for the beauty and versatility of Grenache. McLaren Vale’s treasure trove of old Grenache vines, and the grape’s natural affinity for the region, is why it’s home for me.

Grant Nash will always be family-owned and deliberately small-batch. After too many years in the big end of town, I’m back on the tools — hands-on, crafting what I love. Each batch reflects the vineyard and vintage: straight-up, authentic Grenache made with a light touch to let the fruit shine. We source from a handful of standout McLaren Vale vineyards and keep it simple in the winery — pick for freshness, ferment gently, minimal additions, no fining.
We take what’s in the bottle seriously — vineyards, picking, gentle handling — but we don’t take ourselves too seriously. Wine should be part of life: opened on a Tuesday, poured at a long lunch, or shared after a tough day. It should lift the good times and soften the bad, bring people together and leave room for a laugh. That’s the vibe at Grant Nash. -
