Bright, fresh and vibrant. Florals and red fruits abound! Cherries, raspberries, rhubarb, and fennel with a twist of spice and aromatic herbs. The juicy core of sweet red fruits is framed by fine, sandy tannins making this a salivating and moreish drink.

The perfect lunch wine or anytime wine for that matter. Feel free to whack it in the fridge and serve with a chill.

The Lunch Wine blend is 60% Grenache, 36% Shiraz, 4% Mourvèdre

The Grenache is hand harvested from gnarly old McLaren Flat bush vines planted in 1941. We throw a few whole bunches into the ferment for extra perfume and aromatics.

The Shiraz is from a beautiful site high on a ridge in Tatachilla that benefits from the cooling sea breeze, retaining the redder fruit flavours and beautiful florals and aromatics.

The Mourvèdre is hand harvested from a dry grown block on deep Blewitt Springs sand. It’s dark and broody yet displays the trademark perfume and finesse this sub region is known for.

Open fermentation, hand plunged, matured in French oak puncheons, no fining or filtration.

Splendid wine. Both juicy and complex and, indeed, blessed with fruit depth. Graphite, black cherries, red roses, red licorice and then assorted spice, leather and herb notes all combine to put on a delicious show. There’s a firmness to the finish but the fruit continues to roll on. Lovely wine. Any day of the week, I’d be all over this – for its combination of depth, complexity and freshness.

McLaren Flat bush-vine grenache planted in 1941, shiraz from Tatachilla and mourvèdre from Blewitt Springs; some bunches in the grenache for spice, open ferments, all seasoned French puncheons. The lunch wine. It’s not on the label, but it’s the winery’s handle for it, and it plays out in the glass. Lifted and light on its feet, red fruited and floral. This is silky in delivery, happily absent any confection, with enough complexity to hold the interest. Lunch wine for sure. An excellent all-rounder at table.
