We were a bit concerned that we may not be able to emulate the delicious 2023 Rosé but we shouldn't have worried. It is fair to say that the 2024 is an absolute cracker and is arguably a step up on the 2023.

A delicious, fresh and aromatic Rosé with the palest of onion skin blush. Watermelon rind, strawberry, cherries and a dollop of tangy rhubarb and blood orange zest segue into a crisp, mouthwatering finish.

A blend of 85% Grenache and 15% Graciano, the Grenache component is split into two fractions and cool fermented in stainless steel. One tank is fermented with a champagne yeast to capture the juicy red Grenache fruits whereas the other tank is fermented with a yeast selected to enhance the blood orange characters. The Graciano is wild fermented in a well seasoned puncheon to build on the inherent savoury notes. The Graciano’s naturally high acidity provides a counterpoint to the Grenache’s juicy red fruits. Only the free run juice is used to maximise the purity and finesse.

This is one serious Rosé and will even convert your “No way Rosé!” mates to the joys of some skin contact!

This is 85% Grenache, the balance Graciano, with the former tank fermented and the latter in old oak. A pale coral pink. Ruby grapefruit, wild strawberry, guava and peach iced tea, all refined, not exotic, but insistently flavourful, a little dried herb seasoning. It’s thrillingly dry and racy, but there’s mid-palate litheness, too. Delicious.

Best Australian wines of 2024

This emerging label of great promise has an interest in McLaren Vale grenache probably better described as obsession. The non-existent fellow named on the label is a clue to how deep the love runs. This fragrant and crunchy rosé teams grenache with its Riojan sidekick graciano to produce a wine that wraps red berry fruits in savoury straw, freshens the lots with racy acidity and finishes fine and dry.

Gary Walsh - The Winefront - 91 points

It’s a savoury and earthen thing, plenty of pink grapefruit and green herbs, redcurrant and watermelon. Plenty of sap and crunchy, and while it leans into more citrus flavours, it does have good chalky grip and presence. Quite dusty and peppery, but interesting too. Kind of marginal in terms of rosé style, but good. Has energy.
